Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Nigg:

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

My journey began in Western Nebraska, where I grew up with dreams of city life. However, god had different plans. After moving to South Dakota and marrying into a 5th generation farming family, I found a deep connection to rural life and the agricultural community.

My career path has been anything but linear. I’ve worn many hats, from a Radiation Therapist to Insurance Sales, before finding my true calling as a fitness coach. Each step provided me with valuable lessons and skills that I now apply in running Farm Fit Training.

A pivotal moment came after my family experienced a devastating house fire, closely followed by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. These events tested our resilience and underscored the importance of mental and physical health. Realizing that the agricultural community was often overlooked when it came to health and wellness resources, I felt compelled to act.

On February 5, 2021, after losing our entire home to a house fire and then going into the pandemic, I launched Farm Fit Training less than 11 months after hitting what felt like rock bottom. This at-home fitness program was designed specifically for individuals in agriculture, offering tools and strategies to shred fat, build muscle, and improve mental health—all without needing a gym.

My personal philosophy—life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react—has been the foundation of this journey. Through Farm Fit Training, I aim to empower others to overcome obstacles and achieve their best selves. My family plays a central role in this mission; my two little dudes often join me in workouts, and my husband’s dedication to the farm mirrors my commitment to health and fitness.

Farm Fit Training has grown into a vibrant community, transforming thousands of lives across rural America and Canada. Beyond fitness, we focus on building resilience, fostering mental health, and creating sustainable wellness habits for the long haul. I’m especially proud of how we’ve supported the agricultural community, providing solutions tailored to their unique challenges.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to expand our programs and continue innovating ways to serve our members better. Whether it’s through our new nutrition initiatives or community-driven challenges, my goal remains clear: to help those in agriculture thrive, not just survive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced numerous challenges, especially as an online business owner. Navigating the digital landscape brings its own set of hurdles—from keeping up with ever-changing technology to building trust and connection with a community through a screen.

One of the biggest challenges was transitioning to an entirely online platform during the COVID-19 pandemic. With so many people adjusting to a new normal, I had to quickly adapt my approach to ensure Farm Fit Training could meet the evolving needs of our community. This shift required not only technical know-how but also a deeper understanding of how to engage and support people virtually.

There were also personal challenges, like losing our home to a devastating fire, which tested my resilience on every level. Balancing the demands of rebuilding our life, managing a farm, and growing an online business was overwhelming. Yet, with each challenge came invaluable learning opportunities. I learned to be more resourceful, more empathetic, and more committed to finding solutions.

Through these experiences, I’ve grown not just as a business owner, but as a leader who can better serve the community. Every obstacle has taught me how to rise stronger and more prepared. Whether it’s tackling technical issues, finding new ways to connect with clients, or refining our programs to be even more effective, each challenge has been a stepping stone to better serve the people who rely on Farm Fit Training.

Ultimately, these struggles have shaped the heart of our mission: to empower individuals in agriculture to thrive in every aspect of their lives. The lessons I’ve learned along the way continue to fuel my passion for creating a supportive, resilient community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

How do you think about luck?

Honestly, I don’t believe in luck. I believe in hard work, resilience, and showing up every single day, no matter what challenges come my way. What some might see as “luck,” I see as the result of relentless effort, preparation, and a willingness to learn and adapt.

There have been tough moments in my life—losing our home to a fire and navigating the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic while building a business. These weren’t strokes of bad luck; they were challenges that demanded perseverance and grit. Instead of relying on luck, I focused on how I could respond, grow, and turn those challenges into opportunities.

Launching Farm Fit Training at a time when the world was shifting to at-home fitness wasn’t luck—it was recognizing a need, putting in the work to meet that need, and staying committed to my mission. Every milestone we’ve achieved has been built on a foundation of dedication, hard work, and a passion for serving the agricultural community.

I believe success comes from consistency, determination, and the drive to push through obstacles. If anything, what others might call “luck” is really just the result of staying prepared and ready to seize opportunities when they arise. In my world, hard work always beats luck.
